Brazoria county Sheriffs office is oldest law enforcement agency in the State of Texas providing the county with a wide range of law enforcement and community services.

County’s sheriff’s office consists of following departments: Livestock/Animal Control, Civil Process, Communications Division, Crime lab, I.D division, internal affairs, Investigations, Jail division, mental health, Narcotic division, special division, training, patrol division, and warrant division.

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department assumed the responsibility of the Rabies/Animal Control Division from the Brazoria County Health Department in late 1985.The Communications Division of the Sheriff's Department has the responsibility of maintaining constant communications with the units out in the field, answering calls from the citizens, and is usually the first contact most citizens have with the Sheriff's Department.

The Patrol Division of the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for the basic law enforcement operations. The responsibilities of this division include enforcing criminal and traffic laws, protecting life and property, the initial investigation of crimes, and maintaining peace and order within Brazoria County.
